Worth School, The Spencer Building Sixth Form Centre & Library

A state of the art Science and Technology Centre, on a magnificent site overlooking Knole Park. The laboratories are arranged on three floors around a toplit atrium, lined with display vitrines. The building is conceived as a science workshop; a place for experimentation and discovery.

The Sixth Form Centre provides sophisticated social, study and educational space for the school’s 400 sixth formers, linked to an extensive multi-purpose space for exams and events of all kinds.

Worth School Spencer Building, Sixth Form Centre & Library

Completion: 2022
Location: Worth, West Sussex

Tim Ronalds Architects won the commission to design a new £6.25M Sixth Form Centre for Worth School, a Catholic and Benedictine school in West Sussex, in 2019. The new building includes a library and multi-purpose hall, as well as social and study spaces for the school’s growing Sixth Form. The scheme incorporates a new landscaped quad at the heart of the school which gives cohesion and focus to the surrounding teaching buildings.

This is a very Benedictine building. Its beauty comes from balance and proportion, simplicity and spaciousness, and the way it draws the eye out to the landscapes beyond.
— Head Master, Stuart McPherson
From the moment it opened, the students naturally settled to calm industry, energetic collaboration and happy sociability.
